Here it is

All right, I have a bit of time, so I will type to you all about my lovely trip to Atlanta. And I will do it by day (enter oooooos and ahhhhhs).

Tuesday –We were given our truly heinous dark blue jean shirts with Collin county community College on the breast and the Yemeni flag on the sleeve. Angie and I decided that for the picture we are all going to do the ‘risky business’ thing and wear the ugly shirt with tighty-whites, socks, and sunglasses. We all got cheesecake, too (woooo!) and then we left and I packed. Not exactly an eventful day, but it did serve to elevate the level of flutterbies in my stomach.

Wednesday—We all got to the school at around nine-thirty, which was an hour early, so we all sat around and did research and chatted and I ran around like a chicken with its head cut off (which is how I get when the flutterbies attack) until ten-thirty when the vans finally showed up. Angie, Jeremy, Dermott, and I had the entire second van to ourselves, which was nice indeed.

While at the airport, Jeremy and I went off in search off sustenance and found this really cool thing that I cannot even describe accurately, but I shall try. It was a big circle of differently shaded blue glass pieces that were about seven feet tall. If you get closer you can tell that there are actually circles within circles and paths running between them. On the paths were these small circles that activated noises when you got near. After we discovered that, we ran around inside of thing and made it make noises for a while. Yes, we were amused by that. After that we found the sustenance we were searching for and discussed theology. Again with the amusing-ness.

On the airplane my dear Melody got rather ill…several times (poor thing), and Angie and I sat near each other. The people around us were extremely nice, and a woman gave us both gum so we could ovoid the ear popping pain that is almost a required part of flying.

We got to Atlanta a full day or so before we needed to be there, so we had some leisure time that night, which brings me to Troy. Troy is a relatively attractive guy that hit on me outside of the restaurant we went to. We had finished eating and I saw a stand that looked interesting so I started toward it and, at about halfway, heard a deep male voice say “Hey, can I holla at you for a sec?” to which I responded “If you want, but I am going over there.” To sum it all up, he wanted to know how old I was, if I was dating anyone, and if he could have my phone number (19, perhaps, no). I would have given it to him, had I been able to understand what he was saying. He spoke a little to thuggish for my hick-accustomed ears. He was awfully cute though.

Thursday—My whole room got up at seven thirty, not because we wanted to, but because that is when we woke up. Which sucks. The rest of the day went by fast. We practiced caucusing, resolution righting, and procedure (which almost no one was good at) after which we started the actual session. Yea!

*side note* When making a motion, you do not say “I motion to” or “Yemen motions that,” ok folks? You say “I move to” or “Yemen moves to.” Even the best schools there made that mistake, and it killed me. You can’t motion, you can move. Motion is a thing, move is a verb. *end side note*

Friday—This day was a tad bit more, umm, interesting? We did the session thing and kicked ass while looking so good it was absolutely unbelievable, but the good stuff happened after that. That night there was a party on the fourth floor. Melody, Cody and I hung out in our Didi’s room for a long time and when we came down Jeremy, Angie, Carolina, Fauzia, Dermott, and David all had either already been to the party or were about to go. David told us he was a ‘tad tipsy’ and boy could you smell it on him. We had him brush his teeth before he went on his date, ‘cause it was bad. Melody and I went to our room, where Kendra was already sleeping (mild food poisoning) and talked till two in the morning. We could hear everyone in the room next to ours talking for hours, but we did not hear the fight. Apparently Angie had a bit too much and was chatting with chuck, which scared the inebriated David. They discovered that when David gets drunk and scared he gets violent. He started yelling at everyone in the room and getting in the faces of the girls, at which point the other guys stepped in to ovoid any bad situations. The long and short of it is that Jeremy got cut, David got his ass kicked, and the closet doors were broken. Didn’t I tell you it was interesting?

Saturday—Melody, Kendra and I found out about all that during lunch, which made the rest of the day so much more fun. The sessions ended at five so we all went out to dinner at the ESPN Zone. That place makes me laugh. There are sculptures that are spoofs on Assyrian art and TV’s in the bathroom stalls. The food was good, but the service sucked; it gets two stars. After walking around down town Atlanta, singing and dancing on street corners, and seeing some of the most insane people ever we went to the social for the students. All of these are just about the same; dancing, singing, old DJs. This one was a bit different, though, in that there was a bar. Angie and I walked around the halls of the hotel and sang “I will survive” for a while and danced for a while, but when I saw David ordering a tequila shot we got the heck out of there. I hung out in the girls’ room and played ‘I never’ for a bit and then went to my room to pack and watch Adult Swim. It was about midnight when there was an urgent knock on my door. It was David supporting a very drunk Kendra. He really freaked me out. Any of you who know me know I do not drink; if you want to drink, fine, but I am not going to. Because of this, I don’t go to a lot of parties with drinking so I have no experience in this area. He came in acting like she was going to die of alcohol poisoning.
And then he left me alone with her.
I was a bit on edge for a while, till I figured out that all she had to do was, and I quote, “worship the porcelain god” and sleep it off. Apparently, after he left my room, he went to go get Melody but she would not budge since Kendra is of legal drinking age and able to take care of herself. This upset the tequila drinking David and he tried to pick a fight with her (which would have not gone well for him, I guarantee). That was about it for Saturday.

Sunday—We got up, got packed, got to the airport, made it to Dallas, and finally to the school. My car had been parked at the school all weekend, so all I had to do was put my stuff in and leave. I got all of my bags, said goodbye to everyone, and headed for my car. I always put my purse on the top of my car before I get in because it is difficult to get my keys out, so I did that, unlocked my car, put my bags in the trunk, got in, switched CDs, and drove off. It was not until ten pm that I missed my phone. By this time I was so exhausted that I started crying at random things, so going to look for it that night was out of the question.

Monday—I was still exhausted, but went to school anyway. I decided to put on a new shirt to feel a little better (new clothes have that effect sometimes). So I got to the school and went in to inquire about my purse. I first approached the desk on the computer side of the room. They said they did not know if anyone turned a purse in but that I should probably remove the sticker on my shirt that said it was from Old Navy. Embarrassing much? Oh, yea, it was. The woman at the other desk did have my purse, though, and everything was still in it, which is wonderful.

Tuesday—We had a party for Cody and Angie since it is their birthday. Happy Birthday, kids!

After typing all that my wrists hurt. I think I’ll stop.

I don't think anyone's ever enjoyed being in Georgia that much.

... Ever.

Happy Thanksgiving.
